Travel Gear

There’s a common thought amongst trekkers around the world, and that is:
The quality of your gear is inversely proportionate to the quality of your skills!

With that thought in mind, we’ve scoured the internet for THE BEST gear we can find to prepare us for the journey ahead!

for all you gear heads

You can’t help but say, “How come it seems like you guys have a lot of the same stuff, but in different colours?”. Well, isn’t that just what couples do when they travel? Actually, not really.
The reason why our stuff ‘matches’, is because whats best for one sex, usually is the best for the other too! That, or one of us was too lazy to research our own stuff =D

Here’s the list:
Backpack:
Deuter Air Contact Futura Vario – 60L (his) and 55L (hers). Adjustable, mesh panel so we won’t have sweaty backs after a long day on the trail….or as it was advertised!

Shoes:  Lowa Renegade GTX, goretex lined with a vibram sole for maximum breathability and water resistance! Light weight, and for a hiking boot it doesn’t look that bad!

Pants: Columbia zip-offs. This is the 100% tourist look. Hers in a darker shade of grey. They’re so great we got 2 pairs!

Tent: Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2. Weights 2lbs, 10ozs. Possibly the lightest freestanding structure that can fit 2 people (?) Light, packs down to the size of 2 water bottles, fabric is ripstop with water-repellant coating!
The coolest way to setup a tent I’ve ever seen!!!!

Trekking Pole:
Black Diamond Distance Z-Poles. Ultralight made from carbon fibre composite materials. Light, high torque resistance, good weight distribution…..reminds me of an expensive golf shaft?

Sleeping System:  Apparently, you need a ‘system’ to sleep properly on the road. We definitely brought the big guns for this.
Sleeping Bag: Feathered Friends 0’F bag. More on this later!
Sleeping Mat: Mammut Light Pump Mat!  R-value of 4.1, built in pump! Hopefully it keeps me warm enough on the Everest Base Camp….
Sleeping Bag: ….
